Teen Bible Quiz ...
is open to youth in grades 6 through high school senior (not all
quizzers are yet "teens").
It is a team commitment to study a selected book(s) of the Bible,
to meet together for practices, and to participate together in quiz
matches.
Our study starts sometime during the summer and usually ends in early
in April.
There is usually a practice meet in September, four league meets at
locations throughout KS,
and a comprehensive all-state meet in April.
If the team does well, we could join invitational meets out of state.
Teams consist of 2 to 6 members.
Quiz meets consist of a round-robin of matches.
Each match consists of twenty questions read to two teams.
Each team can place three players at the quiz table.
Questions consist of three thirty-point questions:
as "Quotation question, from Matthew, Chapter 28:
quote the 3
verses of the great commission";
eight twenty-point questions:
as "give a complete answer, from Mathew Chapter
3: describe John ..."
(such questions are usually interrupted by
some quizzer) ..."the baptist."
and nine ten-point questions:
as "two part answer, from Matthew Chapter 1:
Judah was the father ...."
( interrupted by some quizzer) ... "of whom?"
Bible Quiz provides:
* the fellowship of a continuing, close-knit, small group
* an experience of personal discipline that is usually
unmatched in other youth activities
* excitement of well-directed competition
* travel events through out Kansas
* developement of mental acuity through memorization and
detailed analysis of information
* the "hiding" of God's word in the inner being that is
unmatched in more casual studies
* chocolate ( does chocolate enhance memorization? )
* increased potential for college scholarships.
